Alva Noë

Alva Noë is a philosopher at the University of California, Berkeley. He received a Ph.D. in philosophy from Harvard University, a B.Phil. from Oxford University. In May and June 2003 he was a McDonnel-Pew Visiting Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience. He has published articles on topics in the philosophy of perception, philosophy of mind, and other areas. His new book: Action in Perception is forthcoming from The MIT Press. He is at work on a book with the psychologist J. Kevin O'Regan, Perception and Consciousness: A Sensorimotor Approach. He recently edited a special issue of the Journal of Consciousness Studies: Is the Visual World a Grand Illusion?, and is the co-editor, with Evan Thompson, of Vision and Mind: Selected Readings in the Philosophy of Perception (MIT, 2002).
