Jim Hamilton's research is in aesthetics, especially the aesthetics of theater. Recent publications include "Musical Noise," British Journal of Aesthetics (1999), "Theatrical Enactment," The Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism (2000), "Theatrical Performance and Interpretation," The Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism (2001), and "Understanding Plays," Staging Philosophy, D. Krasner & D. Saltz, eds. (University of Michigan Press, forthcoming). He is currently writing a book on theatrical performance as an art form in the series New Directions in Aesthetics, for Blackwell Publishers.
