John Hyman is a Fellow of The Queen's College, Oxford. He is a former Scholar at the Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles, and a former Fellow of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. A new book entitled The Objective Eye: Colour, Form, and Reality in the Theory of Art will be published by the University of Chicago Press in 2006. It is the first book-length study of pictorial art by an analytical philosopher which is equally accessible to philosophers and historians of art.
