A recent book called `Seeing Reason: language and image in learning to think'' describes work comparing diagammatic with linguistics methods of teaching/learning. Other recent work explores the use of non-monotonic logics in explaining subjects' interpretations of reasoning experiments, and thus reinterpreting their significance.
