Tamar Szabo Gendler teaches philosophy at Cornell University. Her work focuses primarily on issues in philosophical psychology, epistemology, metaphysics and aesthetics. She is currently working on a cluster of problems surrounding the relation between imagination and belief, including issues about the nature of imagination, fictional emotions, self-deception, and truth in fiction. Her other recent work has concerned topics in metaphysics and epistemology including conceivability and possibility, the essentiality of origin, personal identity, and the methodology of thought experiment.
